History of the Department:
Department of Studies in Social Work: The Bangalore University instituted the Post-Graduate Programme in Social Work (M.S.W.) in the year 1973 with the vision of excellence in education for the realization of a vibrant and inclusive society through knowledge creation dissemination and action. At present there are eight Colleges affiliated to Bangalore University that offer M.S.W Programme. The department is also offering PhD programme in Social Work. The Social Work profession broadly works for equity, social justice, harmony and peace along with the activities to support the quest of the vulnerable and marginalized groups. The main objectives of the Department are the creation of a living atmosphere wherein democratic values, dignity to the individual and social justice exist.
